Blogmas day five - Wedding makeup

While completing the makeup unit of  beauty therapy last year, it was made apparent to me that I hate people doing my makeup! I get so bored and it is never completed to what I want.

When my mum got married, she put a lot of time and effort into finding the right makeup for her so that she would be able to do it on her own.
This idea completely appeals to me and I have decided that it is definitely something that I want to do. The only thing to decide now is what kind of makeup I want.

The most typical makeup for brides is natural and simple ...

But I do this style makeup on a daily basis and want something a lot more dramatic ...

I think this is stunning! My only problem? Too many people have this these days, my mum even had this makeup! I then looked at more dramatic ones, I fell in love with arabic makeup and I want to get closer to that style but I don't want to be O.T.T. so I then found ...

This is gorgeous! I love a good smokey eye and think this is much more on my track for bridal makeup! I am going to have to play around with a lot of makeup to find what I want but I don't mind!!

Blogmas day four - Winterlicious Tag

1) Favorite Winter Nail Polish?
Since I am doing a nail course, I don't get to keep nail polish on for long so I have recently been having acrylic nails done with red acrylic powder with red glitter

2) Favorite Winter lip product?
My favorite lip combination currently is E.L.F. lip liner in Spice and lipstick in Voodoo, the combination is quite dark so I do like to sometimes add a normal red lipgloss on top (depending which one I have nearby)

3) Most worn Winter clothing piece?
I have just bought some new tunic tops from Very and I am obsessed with this one ...

4) Most worn Winter accessory?
I don't actually wear much accessories but I guess it would be my grey sequin snood from Primark

5) Favorite winter scent/candle?
My favorite scent for all year round in vanilla. But I also love the smell of pine in the winter simply  because of Christmas trees.

6) Favorite Winter beverage?
I found it the other day, it was vanilla and cinnamon flavoured cider. It was so yummy and I also bought a toffee apple cider which was even better but more suited to Autumn in my mind.

7) What is your favorite Christmas Decoration this year?
My little pink and blue glittery toadstools that I bought last year! they are so random but so cute!

8) What's at the top of your Christmas list?
Honestly, wedding stuff!

Blogmas Day three - Bridesmaids

So I have finally decided on my bridesmaids and I will have six adults, two junior and one flower girl.

Since I have so many, I want to try to keep the price low as they will all add up!

I found my dream bridesmaid dresses, surprise surprise on Pinterest. But the designers dresses are roughly £200 a piece which will total £1200 for just my adult bridesmaids!

The thing I love about these dresses is the timeless silhouette. It is so sleek and sophisticated, my bridesmaids all agreed. They also all said that they love the idea of having straps on it too.
Ebay dresses seem to be a hit and miss, especially from China but I have found loads that are £20! That would slash my total price to less than it would cost for just one of the above dresses!
Have you ever bought a formal dress from China through Ebay?
Is it worth the risk? I mean, for £120 you can't go too wrong surely!

Blogmas day two - Holly Jolly Holiday Tag

-Favorite Christmas movie?
Elf! Who can resist? It is amazing!

-Are you on the Naughty list or the Nice list?
Nice, obviously! ;)

-Show us an embarrassing Christmas Card photo!
We don't actually take them in my family, I definitely want to start once I have my own family!

-Have you ever had a White Christmas?
Yes, I live in North-West England which is normally cold! We tend to get our snow in more Jan/Feb time. Although we have had snow on Christmas day before.

-Where do you usually spend your holiday?
Our Christmas is normally structured from Christmas eve 'till the 27th. I don't want to make this post too long by going into detail so I will say that this year, me and T are going to spend Christmas eve at my mum's home. We will open presents in the morning at home, then have dinner at my brother's home and we may be going to a friend of T's house for some drinks in the night. And as usual, we will see my dad and another brother of mine on boxing day and we will all go to my Grandma's home for turkey sandwiches.

-Play or sing your favorite Christmas song!
Well I can't really sing or play on a blog post, my favorite Christmas song is between two, Fairytale of New York - The Pogues and Kirsty Maccoll or Happy Xmas (War is Over) - John Lennon.

-Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
Nope, strictly Christmas Day.

-Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?
Rudolph, Donner, Comet, Cupid, Blitzen . . . I guess not!
-What holiday tradition are you looking forward to most this year?
Spending Christmas Eve at my mum's house decorating her tree and having Mac 'n' Cheese and Tacos.

-Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
I have always had a real tree until I moved out. I have a fake one this year although that is only because people weren't selling real Christmas trees when I gave in to decorate it!

-Hands down, what's your all-time favorite holiday food and holiday sweet treat?
Food is Turkey, we only ever have turkey on Christmas day so it's special.
Sweet tree is chocolates, the celebrations, roses, heros and quality streets that you get in tins.

-Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?
I love them both equally!

-Show us your tackiest Christmas attire!
Again, we have never done this either but something I plan to do!

-What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
Canada. I actually just put on my facebook that I would love to spend Christmas in a log cabin in Canada!

-Does your family have a special holiday recipe you like to help make?
Not that I know of.

-Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?
I am a pro! Or I like to think so. I am a very creative person so I love making the presents look awesome under my tree!

-Most memorable Holiday moment?
Spending Christmas in France at my grandparents' home with my uncles, aunts, cousins, mum and siblings. Waking up hearing my uncles and cousins cruelly making as much noise as they could to wake up my brothers in their room!

-What made you realize the truth about Santa?
My brother!!

-Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?
For the past two years, it has been that I will make the next year better than the last. Go for the things I want and I can say that I have stuck 100% to them!

-What makes the Holidays special for you?
Spending time with my family, not only receiving love and presents but giving it to everyone close to me!
I love my family and much prefer Christmas than my birthday.

Blogmas Day One!

So I am one of those people who sit and watch YouTube videos all day! A lot of the people that I am subscribed to are starting to do Vlogmas and I decided that I would like to do similar.

As I am not a vlogger, I am going to do Blogmas!!! I totally slack with my blog so for me, this is the perfect time to step up my game! The only downside to this is that my life is pretty busy at the moment so I will find it hard to find time to post so there will be a new blog post every other day for the month of December!

So as I may have mentioned before, I am a Nail Technologies student and we have been having a lot of fun this week with glitter nails! I love glitter and feel like red and gold glitter it totally festive!!

This being my first post is going to me a Mani/Pedi of the week!

I had an iridescent twinkle toes and a red rockstar nails! I am completely in love with them!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Yet again, I am getting far too excited far too early!

Christmas is by far my favorite holiday of the year. In my family, Christmas is celebrated more than birthdays.

I first started to get excited when I got my first red cup Starbucks, an Eggnog latte.

Then came the light switch on in my town. I have gone every year and although today was nowhere near as fun as most, I did enjoy the fireworks.

Last year I put up my Christmas tree up the night of the switch on, I decided that this year I would do the same. I really wanted to get a real Scots Pine tree this year but since there are non around this early, I put up my usual fake tree.

So some people may think it is too early to put up a tree but I don't. I just love it too much!!!

In the name of weightloss?

So I posted a LONG time ago that I wanted to lose weight. Since then, I got pregnant and it is safe to say, I let myself go and I gain a lot of weight! It got to the point where I hated my body. I couldn't stand the sight of my reflection, it also didn't help that I already gained a lot of stretch marks.
When my mum got married, she found a website shows you what you look like going off your measurements.

The one on the left was me and the one on the right is what my goal is. When it showed me what I was, I didn't believe I looked that big. I asked T if it was what I looked like and he said it was! Safe to say that was my turning point.
Since my and T do a monthly shop, I decided that I would put 'my half' of the shopping budget to a slim fast diet.
Unfortunately, there have been a few things coming up this month where I haven't been able to stick to my diet 100%. Since I hadn't weighed myself since I did this picture (about three weeks ago) I thought the other night that I was going to detox this week (this will be explained how in my next post) so I figured it would make sense to weight myself before I go on. I am so proud to say that I have lost 4.5kgs the past three weeks which is almost a quarter of my goal!

As I have a love for food, this is a very big thing for me and I am so proud of myself. So to anyone else 'seating for the dress' or even just trying to lose weight. You can do it!

Autumn/Fall

As I sat watching 'The Wedding Planner' I was suddenly hit by something! Autumn/Fall, which ever you want to call it! All Spring and Summer, I have been wondering around my flat with neither sock or shoes on. For the first time since last Winter, I felt my feet feel ice cold! So cold in fact it caused me to put on my 'Snuggie' and place my laptop on my feet to warm them up slightly!

This got me to thinking and I suddenly got all excited about about the idea that Autumn/Fall is here! The smell of cinnamon and pumpkin with the sweet taste of caramel apples just made my mouth water.

Winter has always been my favorite season since Christmas is my favorite holiday. However, for some reason, I have just got extremely excited for Autumn. The first thing I thought I should so to start off the seasons was to buy a candle! I have looked high and low for the type of candle I would want and it seem that ideally, I would love for there to be a Bath and Body Works in the UK!

I think that because I am not too sure about which ones I will like from Yankee Candle, I think I am going to buy some tarts to try some out. Next payday, I will certainly be denting my bank account balance to try a mixture of scents!

AHHH far too excited!

Purple Hair

To anyone that knows me, I love colour and I tend to express myself through alternative ways.
It is a strong opinion of mine that my hair colour represents me in a big way, just like I tend to be blonde in Summer and darker colours in Winter,  but I also like to experiment!
I have been dying my hair since I was 13 which is when I only went one shade of brown darker to sort of test the waters. Unfortunately, no one noticed so I decided that I would go all out and go for black (I was in a bit of an 'alternative' style phase). Unfortunately I went  to a Catholic school, and it was fair to say they didn't like it and I got put in isolation for a week or two!

Since then I have been pretty much every colour! I put together a collage of hair colours that I have (including my natural ones) and decided to share them. There have been much more of colours but these are the ones that I have pictures of.

The ones that I like best are the purple ones. I have always seen purple as 'my colour' as it seems to suit my skin colour well!

When I look back on my hair, I noticed a pattern:

Brunette hair = More serious times that might have been sad
Blonde = The times I created memories
and
Any un-natural colours = The fun times and being happy!

Since I have had a tough few weeks (coincidentally brunette again), I though I should have a change. I decided I would go for the bright pink/purple on the bottom row but maybe a bit darker.
As soon as I could, I went out for a few things I would need to get my hair the way I want.

I love the results!

The worst has happened!

So, as I sit and write this, I am watching South African comedian Trevor Noah to keep me from getting too emotional. The reason I have taken more time in between this blog post as the last is because the worst happened to us. On Sunday 4th August 2013 in the early hours of the morning, I miscarried my first child.
Too explain further, on the Saturday, me and T went to view a house (for the extra room we would need) and got the times mixed up so we decided to go stop at my dad's house for dinner. While we were there, I slowly started to cramp. I had cramps the previous night but when I rang up the hospital, they said that it is nothing to worry about and I should just take some paracetamol and get some rest. So anyway, back to the Saturday, I started getting cramps around 6ish and decided it would be better for me and T to come home so I can rest again.
Yet again, I rang the hospital to see what I should so since the cramps were getting sharper and sharper and were starting to make me cry! Their advice was the same as always, to take some pain killers and go to bed. I did this and manages to get about an hour of sleep until I woke up at around 1.30-2am to the feeling of ...
T.M.I. again ...
... my pad overflowing (I had still been spotting since my last post so I went to bed with a pad on) instantly I ran to the toilet to check it out. Nothing couple prepare me for what I was about to see. On the pad was not only a lot of blood but a sack with a long cord attached. T woke up at this point and came rushing into the bathroom after feeling the bed for me but only finding a patch of blood. We both completely freaked out and stood there for what felt like hours just staring, in silence. Eventually, we rang the hospital who told us to come in immediately and we would be seen straight away. They stuck to their word and although it being the early hours of a Sunday morning meaning a lot of people in with drunken accidents etc. we were sent to the front of the 'line' and seen straight away.
To cut a long story short, we were in the hospital for a while, got sent to the maternity unit for an internal examination where the news was confirmed that we had in fact lost the baby.  So, for now, this blog is making a return back to wedding planning and possibly just my life in general.

Confused!

So this week has been full of drama (hence the late update).

To go through it step by step, problems started on Monday 22nd July 2013 I went for dinner with a friend to an all you can eat buffet, afterwards I got really bloated to the point it hurt, so I went home and rested, the next morning . . .

WARNING - about to get T.M.I.

. . . I woke up and went to the toilet to realize I had been bleeding in the night and I got terrified! Not only was there blood but there was clots, about the size of a 50 pence piece and the blood was a deep reddish-brown colour. Being only 6-7 weeks, I realize that the chance of miscarriage is high!!
Straight away, I rang the hospital to see what I should do, since I hadn't had a scan/meeting at the hospital yet, I was told to go to my GP and be referred to the hospital for them to be able to see me.
When I got to the doctors at 11am after ringing and being told to come in asap for an emergency appointment, I then sat for 20 mins while the doctor was in his room. Eventually, with T, my mum and I all sat in silence, terrified to hell, we went in to see the doctor.
I explained what the woman said on the phone at the hospital and he took down my name and sent someone to write a letter for me to take to the hospital. Another 25 mins went by and we were getting very edgy now, the guy came out with the letter and told me I had an appointment to go to the hospital, the next day at 3pm. I just broke down in tears, I had no idea what was going on, nothing from the doctor of what it could be, no reassurance what-so-ever! This is where my mum demanded that we get some explanation of anything (my mum can be pretty tough). Another doctor (the female one) then look us to another room and spoke to us although I must say that I wasn't really paying attention through the tears and all kinds of thoughts that were playing through my head! I was told not to worry and that I should go home and take it easy until I had to go to the hospital.

For the rest of the day, I lay in bed, watching films and eating junk!

The next day was very nerve racking! I had butterflies in my stomach the whole morning. When we got to the hospital, the women we lovely, so calming and reassuring which is all I really wanted at that moment.

Me and T went in for the scan and I just lay there waiting for any news, good or bad while holding tightly onto his hand. The nurse then turned the screen to show the gestational sack with the yolk sack inside. She revealed that the baby is just too tiny to see since I am probably only 4-5 weeks pregnant meaning that I am currently 5-6 weeks gone.
I am booked in next week for another scan and hopefully we will get to see something! I then have two more scans this month just to keep checking which I thought was crazy!

Thanks for reading

OOPS!!!

Well then, our story has taken a very unexpected turn.

The wedding plans has currently been put on hold. Not for any bad reasons, we are still planning to marry although there are more immediate planning that needs to be done, before March 9th 2014.

If you haven't already guessed, T and myself are expecting our first child. Although it is early days, I thought I would like to keep a diary of my pregnancy showing the good, the bad and the ugly! It was not planned but we are growing more and more excited about having a little bundle of joy all of our own!

So, since I am currently 5 weeks and 6 days pregnant, my first 'pregnancy update' will be on Sunday every week.
For my first pregnancy post however, I found a tag on YouTube with some questions which I found pretty interesting so here it is:

1. How and when did you find out you were pregnant?
It was Monday 8th July 2013 and I ran to the shop at 9am and bought a box of two pregnancy tests and came home straight away and took one.

2. How old were you?
I was and am 18 years old and will also be when my baby is born, I will turn 19 one month later.

3. How did you feel?
If I'm totally honest, the first though was rather explicit. However, after seeing T's reaction, I was a lot more relaxed and have constantly been getting more and more positive about the whole thing.

4. How did you tell your partner?
I shouted him into the bathroom as soon as I saw there were two lines and simply showed him the test, his reply was 'so my baby is in there?' as he held my belly (cheesy but also very sweet!)

5. Did you wait three months before telling people? Why/why not?
Since I am not three months yet, I can say that I have told my immediate family and T has told some of his but we are waiting until our first scan (at 3 months) until we announce it on Facebook.

6. Is this your first?
Yes both mine and his.

7. Do you want more?
Yes, definitely!

8. Your biggest craving?
Orange Juice, I have drank soooooooo much!

9. The best part of pregnancy?
Knowing that I have a life, created by me and someone I love growing inside of me.

10. The worst part of pregnancy?
Feeling tired all day every day! and feeling really sick.

11. Will you find out the gender? What do your prefer?
We are unsure at the moment but we more than likely will. I wouldn't prefer one over the other but I keep saying to people I have a strong feeling that I am having a boy!

12. Do you have any names picked out?
Not really for a boy but we like Lily/Liana for a girl!

13. What's your birth plan?
I have always liked the idea of a home birth but I know that T is very uncomfortable with that. So if I am in a hospital, I definitely want  a water birth which as little pain relief!

14. Will you breastfeed?
I really want to try as hard as possible to breastfeed but I am also aware that complications my arise where I can't.

15. Do you plan to work/be a stay at home mum/mom?
I plan to be a stay at home mum at first but if all goes according to plan, I will  be running my own business in the future.

16. Will you make your own baby food?
I would definitely like to explore this option but again, I do not know if it will be the best option for us!

17. Do you have any nursery ideas/themes?
I was flicking through Pinterest and I love the idea of having a rainbow theme since it would go with everything.

So there we go. Until next time!

Travelling in who's style?

It is no surprise that me and T have come to another stand still. Our tastes are very different and trying to agree on which one looks nicer is rather difficult. When we sat down to plan the wedding the other night, the subject of transport came up.
As a little girl I always wanted a horse and carriage and when I saw 'My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding' I fell in love with the idea of the Cinderella carriages. Some people call them tacky but I LOVE them!!!

T however hates them, in his words 'it makes our wedding look like a Disney film' which of course is what I want. I then looked in the more traditional way of a classic horse and carriage. Same response.

Now, when we went to the wedding fair, there were some cars outside that we could hire. As well as the blue Chevrolet that me and my mum adore, there were the more classic cars as such:

And although I used to dream of having a vintage style car the idea seems too popular these days, there is no 'wow factor' involved. I am not 100% ruling out the idea but I'm not to sure I want one. I then asked what T thought of it and he concluded they were to 'pimp like' hmmm.
He then went over to a Bentley and decided he likes it. Me and my mum became quite confused how he believes that the classic cars are 'pimp-ish'  but this isn't:

Men!

Don't get me wrong, it is a stunning car but I cannot imagine me getting into a car like this in my wedding dress! Another thing I notices is that this is the style car that T wants to own one day and personally I don't like the idea of having a car for my wedding that I may be driving around day-to-day in later in life. As I said this point to him, he suggested a Maybach:

I must say it ticks a lot of boxes:

-Spacious
-Executive
-Used is SATC
-Out of reach price
-People will stare
-Glamorous but elegant

But there is still something missing to me. I think I may let this one slide and let T have is way. I'm also sure that my dad won't mind riding with me on the way to the church!!

Weigh in Wednesday: Time to sweat for the dress!

Here is the dreaded post. I recently came to a decision that I don't want to go looking for wedding dresses until I lose weight! I have slacked severely keeping my weight down so there is no time like the present.

The issues I have are A. I want a smaller tum B. I want to keep my bum the same size but plump it up a bit C. I have no upper strength and noticing bingo wings appearing.

So this is the first step in achieving my goal, my measurements:

Weight - 13.7 St
             -89.7 Kg
             -189 lbs

Bust - 106 cm

Waist - 97 cm

Hips - 119 cm

Thigh - 70 cm

Upper Arm - 32 cm

The awful evidence:

Not very attractive OR healthy!

Since we go our shop monthly and we have only recently done it, my diet is going to have to wait for anything dramatic. Exercising was the next best thing so I checked Pinterest for help (as usual). I came across two in particular that I though would be great:

This one is great! There are seven levels that are done each week but you can also move up a level when ever you think is fit. I am going to aim to complete this in six weeks just to push myself that little bit.

For me this is the start. get the cardio and the butt work out going! I am soon going to add in ab workouts but I don't want to push myself too far just yet. I have tried both of these out today and I must say it was haaaaaard!! A lot harder that I anticipated but hey, you have to push yourself to reach the better goals!

Fingers crossed I manage this!

(This is going to turn into a weekly thing so I can track my progress so stay tuned!)

Lancashire Wedding Show

So, I haven't posted in a few days. This is for a number of reasons:

1. I have been very lazy the past few days when at home.

2. There has been a lot of events going on.

3. I haven't had much to post about.

4. A lot of thought process was going on regarding the wedding.

However, I am now here to talk about the Great Lancashire Wedding Show that I went to on Sunday. I don't have many pictures because I was far to excited to see everything and absorb as much information as I could.

So on Sunday 21st April, T, my mum and myself went to the wedding show not really knowing what to expect. When we walked in, there was a mass of companies there for different aspects of the wedding. I had been to many 'convention' like events and this is pretty much what it was, there was a fashion show for bride/b.m./m.o.h/m.o.t.b/groom/m.o.t.g which the music from there was unbelievably loud!

T got to check out a few suits and I even got to try on my first ever wedding dress!!! Not nearly as exciting as I thought it would be (especially when the woman said 'it might be a bit difficult to get you in this because it's a fitted dress but I suppose you have smaller breasts that the other women that have tried so it might work.' when I tried on a mermaid. Safe to say I wont be going to their boutique anytime soon!!)

If there are any wedding shows going on near you, I highly recommend them, they are so informative and you can get some good ideas for your wedding. I came back with all this stuff

And this picture really doesn't do justice of how much stuff I got!

I decided I would sort it all out to organize it

but by far my favorite thing that I got were these sticky notes (which have come in handy when reading through the wedding catalogues)

So there we are, not the best post I have done but it's better than nothing right?

How much?!?!

So a little random fact about me, I am a beautician in training. I have almost finished the course and have always had a passion for beauty. Typically this mean that I immediately thought about what makeup and skin care I will need for my wedding.

Since I started doing a makeup unit on the course, I noticed that I hate having my makeup done. It bores me, I want to be looking around, it isn't done in my own time and I am never 100% happy with the outcome. Although that is probably me just being silly but I couldn't really see me getting my makeup done on my wedding morning by anyone other than myself, I would just get annoyed and that wouldn't be the best start to the day.

However, I don't want to use my cheap makeup on my wedding day. I want to pamper myself a little. Since I spend most of my time one YouTube, it isn't surprising that I found Kandee Johnson's video '7 Steps to a Flawless Face (Foundation)' video. I love Kandee and I have been watching her for years!
I really trust her advice so I followed it to a tee. I went and looked for the prices of her makeup
used in the tutorial and calculated the price.

For that particular face makeup as well and an Urban Decay 'Naked 2' palette, a set of brushes,
MAC lipstick and a few other bits and bobs, it comes to roughly £250. Personally I don't think
it's that bad considering it is about £100 for a makeup artist for one day on just the bride and
since I have a few bridesmaids, that price will add up. On the other hand, if I buy this makeup it
would last me longer that just the one day so I would get more bang for my buck!

Another unit I studied was facials. I love the idea of having facial, if you use the right products
and tools. I have seen/heard a lot about the Clarisonic 'home facial tool' and to me,
it honestly does sounds great. The price however doesn't, £200?!?!?? that's just silly money!
Me being me I chose to research more for a cheaper alternative. I found one too!
The Skinsonic, it basically does the same job for quarter of the price. Awesome!!
That will bring my subtotal (including makeup) up to £300.

Now, you can't really by a facial tool and not have any products to go with right? When looking
for products I have to be careful. I have dry/normal skin but I get spots easily if I'm not
careful with what products I use (I don't have sensitive skin though) so I decided to look
for a higher brand's skin care range suited to dry skin. This is when I came across Benefit's
range which is entirely devoted to dry skin. The only problem is that it isn't devoted to
people on a budget. With eight product in the range at £20 give or take it gives a total of
roughly £160 which I know you don't need all of the products but you might as well!

The grand total of my wedding makeup and skincare if T agrees: £460!!!!

That's a huge chunk of the budget but I think it's a good investment!!
What do you think?
